 - the Hostage Column -
Hans Witten

who was the most famous Master Artist in  Obersachsens created this three-dimensional piese of art in 1515. The column measures a high of 3,60 m and was carved from a single trunk of oak. The plastic shows how Jesus was tortoured by three of his assailants, while a fourth one finished the crown ofthorns. The column once stood as object of meditation in the cloister, today it is in the north transept of the Schlosskirche.
